Built for Cunard White Star, Caronia was launched on 30th October 1947 and served until 1967. In service the 'Green Goddess' as she was known served on numerous routes before being sold and serving as the SS Carabia. From this she was then put in store until 1974 when she was sold for scrap. On her way to the scrapyard she broke her tow ropes in a heavy storm and crashed on to rocks, subsequently sinking.
