R100 at Cardington British Airship 1930s Aviation Art Print by Aviation Artist Roger H. Middlebrook GAvA

During the 1930s to travel long distances meant travelling by airship. While the German’s had made the technology work both the USA and Great Britain lagged some way behind. In Britain the R100, built at Cardington sheds and designed by Barnes Wallis was going to be the beginning of the future and it proved a success, completing a tour of Canada and return. Unfortunately the crash of the R101 with great loss of life resulted in the cancellation of the British airship programme.
