Gloster Grebe - Inter-war aviation art pencil drawing

Entering service in 1923, the Grebe was the first new fighter with which the RAF was equipped after WWI. Along with its contemporary Armstrong-Whitworth Siskin, the Grebe remained the backbone of the RAF until replaced by the Bristol Bulldog in 1929. Problems with its powerplant led to a parallel development, the Gamecock, which, while inheriting the Grebe’s stability problems had a slightly longer service life until 1931.
