The "Connie" allowed airlines such as B.O.A.C (British Overseas Air Corporation) to bring in much faster and longer routes than had been envisaged before the war. It was aircraft such as the Constellation that laid the foundations for the long-distance routes that are in use today. Reliable and comfortable, the Constellation was held back by an inability to cruise at 40,000ft + where jets would later excel.
