Elegant Aquitania- RMS Aquitania

£24.00

Ocean Liner Art - RMS Aquitania Painting

Until 2004 Cunard’s Aquitania held the record for the longest career of a liner, serving thirty-six years with service in both world wars. The last of the "Grand Trio" (the others being Mauretania and Lusitania), Aquitania entered service in May 1914 becoming a regular on the routes to North America. She was decommissioned in 1950.

This painting shows her prior to the final voyage she completed from Liverpool which began on 19th February 1919. She was re-fitted after WWI and made one journey before being transferred to Southampton. Thanks to Mark Amess for additional information.
