Born in West Yorkshire in 1946, from primary school on, art has been a major part of Alan's life.
Along with his love of sport, the art class was always the most rewarding at school, his teachers often allowing him out of other classes just to develop what they saw as natural talent. Neither they, nor Alan, could have known that this would have such a huge part to play in later years.
Motorcycles, girls, coffee bars, jukeboxes all the normal parts of growing up in the early 60's then took over but a huge road accident on his beloved Triumph Tiger 110 nearly took his life.
Art then became part of his life again, painting pictures for his children in married life.
Alan served his apprenticeship to become an outstanding Photo Lithographic Retoucher in the print industry, and later went on to become a Managing Director of a reprographics company for BPCC in the Robert Maxwell publishing empire.
A severe work related illness cut short that part of his life. Vowing never to work for anyone else again, art now served a vital part of his recuperation, and along with support from his second wife, Ann, a new life as a professional artist blossomed.
Motorcycle racing was and still is a passion, from his love of bikes, and the heroes that ride them, from the greatest, Mike Hailwood, through to todays modern superstars, it was a natural to progress and develop his art in this direction.
Alan found a natural home for his work, and through self-published limited edition fine art lithographic prints gained immediate success. A couple of years into his new career, Alan lost an eye to cancer but undeterred and fully supported, success followed success. All of the original prints being long sold out.
John Surtees, Kenny Roberts, Randy Mamola, Jamie Whitham, Franco Uncini, Nicky Hayden, Valentino Rossi, Jeremy McWilliams just a few of the riders who own Alan's original artworks.
Alan owes a huge debt of gratitude to Chris Herring then race team manager of HRC RACING, who helped make connections in WSBK, GRAND PRIX and MOTOGP.
Now moved to Cornwall, Alan is fully retired, and enjoying his new county, walking the incredible coastline with Ann and attempting to take memorable photographs.
HANSEN FINE ART are now proud to make Alan's work available in three Giclee printed sizes. These new prints are unsigned but have been seen and proofed for their quality and colour accuracy.
