  • Convoy Patrol - Short Sunderland

Short Sunderland Aviation Art Painting Print by Aircraft Artist Roger Middlebrook GAvA

Based on the company's C Class and Golden Hind flying boats, the Short Sunderland has become one of the most recognisable aircraft from WWII. Large and equipped with an array of weaponry during the war, the aircraft proved an admirable U-Boat killer, especially when fitted with ASV radar later in the war. Though supplemented by both the Consolidated Catalina and Liberator, the Sunderland remained in frontline service with the RAF into the 1950s.

The one seen here is the aircraft now preserved in the RAF Museum, Hendon and shows her wearing the colours of 330 (Norwegian) Squadron. The aircraft currently wears the markings of 201 Squadron
