Boeing’s Model 314 was taken into service by Pan Am and immediately became known as ‘Clipper’s due to the names given to them by their operator. Yankee Clipper is seen over New York sometime in 1940. When America joined the war the aircraft became an important part of BOAC’s operations and was used by numerous airlines for some years after WWII.
