The Bruneval Raid of 27-28th February 1942 was one of the first successful combined operations of the war. Its origins go back to February 1941 and the need to better identify and understand German Radar. After several unsuccessful attempts, on 5th December 1941 Flt. Lt Tony Hill located the Freya radar at Bruneval and photographed it from 200ft.
