BOAC Lockheed Constellation Limited Edition Photograph - by Aviation Photographer Peter Keating
It had been a long trip. Leaving London Airport
on 28 May 1955 Peter Keating had been away for 24 days on the long-haul flight
to Sydney and back. He had flown 15 different legs in six different BOAC
Constellations and now he had just under an hour at Zurich before the last leg
of the journey. Steward duties done he took the opportunity to take his cameras
and document the aircraft in front of the main terminal at Zurich.
This is Lockheed L749A Constellation G-ANUZ
'Belvedere' which had been on charge with BOAC since just February of that
year, having previously been with KLM, as PH-TDG, and Capital, as N90621. This
was typical of the long haul routes flown by the Constellations - Zurich,
Beirut, Karachi, Calcutta, Singapore, Jakarta, Darwin, Sydney and return the
same way. This last leg from Zurich to London took two hours 50 minutes, almost
twice the flight time today.
Two sizes are available. The 13" image is limited to 30 copies, while the 20" version is limited to 20 copies
