A Cold Day at RAF Warmwell- Westland Whirlwind

£24.00

RAF Westland Whirlwind Art Painting Print 264 Squadron  by Aviation Artist Roger H. Middlebrook GAvA

The Westland Whirlwind is an aircraft of considerable irony. Not only was it the RAF's first twin-engined fighter and carried a formidable armament of four 20mm cannons as standard, but would have a fairly long service life and have considerable success on anti-shipping duties. On the down-side, its engines were considered unreliable at best, it had a high landing speed for its time and only two squadrons were equipped with the type.

These aircraft from 264 squadron are just preparing for a mission from their base, RAF Warmwell, while one of the pet dogs does what comes naturally. For good luck?
