Nieuport 11 Bebe Original Oil Painting by Lee Lacey AGAvA
The superiority of the Fokker Eindecker resulted in several attempts by the Allies to get a scout into the ar that could counter the threat. Without an interrupter gear the French Nieuport scouts were equipped with a single machine gun firing above the propeller arc. Fired by means of a chain and without the ability to reload it was not a satisfactory concept but gave the French a way of wrestling back air supremacy while better Nieuport and Spad designs were developed.
This original painting is oil on canvas board and measures 18" x 14". It comes framed in a pewter finish frame with a white slip
