HMS Malaya USS Alabama Maritime Battleship Painting Art Print by Artist Roger H. Middlebrook GAvA
During April 1943 units of the United States Navy were temporarily assigned to the British Home Fleet in a repeat of what had happened in WWI. One of these units was USS Alabama which, in company with HMS Malaya and other units, participated in a faint towards Southern Norway, ‘Operation Governor’. This was an attempt to draw German reinforcements away to the area in preparation for the invasion of Sicily. The American units would stay with the Home Fleet until August of the same year.
