Grey Lady Glinting- Avro Shackleton
Avro Shackleton Aviation Art Print by Roger Murray AGAvA
Overcast and gloomy conditions make for a stunning backdrop to a single Avro Shackleton as it passes HMS Ark Royal. This scene would be repeated many times during the 1960s and 1970s before the ‘Ark’ was taken out of service in 1979 and scrapped. The Shackleton, in its AEW.2 guise, would remain in service until 1991, becoming the last piston-engined aircraft in the RAF.
