Commissioned in 1900 as one of the new generation of Battleships and took up station with the Atlantic fleet. Under the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt the US Navy expanded and took on a more global role, Kearsarge becoming a member of the famous ‘Great White Fleet’ that toured the world in 1907-09. Seeing action in WWI and becoming a training ship during WWII, Kearsarge was eventually put up for scrap in 1955
