The toys of many generations from the 1930s onward, many original sets and cars can fetch excellent money on the second –hand market and are as loved now as ever.
Malcolm Root’s painting shows a delivery by one of Hornby’s distinctive yellow vans, these vehicles being eagerly awaited by many hundreds of children up and down the country for nearly half a century.
