Night Fighter - Boulton Paul Defiant
Boulton Paul Defiant Night Fighter Aviation Art Print by Charles J. Thompson ASAA, GAvA
After a stunning start to its day-fighter role, the Defiant was soon found wanting for lack of forward firing armament. With the onset of the Blitz however and the need for an interim night fighter it found its true raison d’etre., becoming the top scoring aircraft of the early months of the Blitz. With improved aircraft such as the Beaufighter and Mosquito coming into squadron service the aircraft was phased out of front-line service and were converted, in the most part, to target tugs.
