Gloster Gladiator and LMS Duchess Aviation Painting Art Print by Aircraft Artist Roger H. Middlebrook GAvA

Many of the RAF fighter pilots that found fame during WWII had joined up numerous years before and cut their teeth on types such as the Bristol Bulldog, Hawker Fury, Gloster Gauntlet and as here the Gloster Gladiator. The pilot in question is Robert Stanford-Tuck who would go on to see action over Dunkirk and the Battle of Britain as commander of 257 Squadron before being promoted to Wing Commander and being shot down over France when his scored stood at 29 victories.

He is seen during 1938 with one of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway's non-streamlined Duchess locomotives at full speed below.
