What A Pair - Spitfire & Hurricane
Hawker Hurricane & Supermarine Spitfire Aviation Art Print
The most famous fighters ever produced in Britain are seen here together flying somewhere over the south coast. The backlighting and colouration is typical of Charles Thompson’s work with both aircraft having been painted by him many times.
The Spitfire comes from 54 Squadron, while the Hurricane is an example from 56. During the battle of Britain, the Spitfire unit was based at Hornchurch while the Hurricane squadron were at both North Weald and Rochford.
