Railway Steam Locomotive Birthday Card - A4 Class 60014 Silver Link
Lazy summer afternoons in the 1960s would normally find children and adults ‘spotting’. With beauty, grace and memorable names the attraction of the large locomotives is easy to see in this painting by Malcolm Root. It shows a ‘streak’ or A4 class Pacific, in this case 60014 Silver Link on the run north from Kings Cross. It is doubtful if in today’s world of health and safety that locomotives doing 75+mph would travel on unprotected tracks!
This railway birthday and greeting card captures the romance of the era when locomotives were really something.
