Dugald Drummond's M7 were one of the longest serving locomotives in Britain, many lasting for more than 50 years.
Here an M7 simmers in the summer sunshine at Swanage, now home to the superb preserved railway. Today, 30053 represents the class on preserved lines, after having been repatriated from the USA in 1987 and is mainly based on the Swanage line, while locomotive 245 in its original LSWR green is preserved at the National Railway Museum, York.
