Westland Lysander Blank Birthday Fathers Day Card by Aviation Artist Patricia Forrest
After initial use during WWII as an army co-operation aircraft, the
Westland Lysander would become more famous as the aircraft used by the Special
Operations Executive (SOE) to drop and retrieve agents and operatives from
occupied Europe. Most sorties were done after dark where the superb short
landing and take-off ability of the Lysander and hushed engine note made it
ideal for the purpose.
