just prior to Italy's 1943 armistice, the Fiat G.55 would go on to serve in the
Fascist ANR with a total of 274 being produced. The aircraft proved extremely
capable but as Allied air superiority grew so losses mounted, many aircraft
being destroyed on the ground.
