The aircraft portrayed in this pencil drawing is the famous “S” –Sugar of 467 Squadron, which completed the second highest number of missions of any Lancaster in Bomber Command (137).
Now preserved at the Royal Air Force Museum, Hendon “Sugar” stands proudly at the entrance to the Bomber Command Hall which commemorates the 60,000 young men, some of whom were not even old enough to drive a car, who gave their lives in the bombing campaign over Germany.
