English Electric / Bae Canberra Reconnaissance Aircraft Pencil Drawing
The first jet bomber to enter service with the RAF, Canberra had an even longer career as a reconnaissance aircraft. In this guise it was also used extensively during both Gulf campaigns and over Afghanistan.
The unit that had flown it into action had been 39 Squadron, reformed at Wyton in 1992 using both the PR.7 and PR.9 versions. The last were retired in 2006.
