Westland Wasp HMS Antelope Aviation Painting Art Print by Aviation Artist Stephen Chard GAvA
Stalwarts of the Royal Navy during the 1970s and 1980s both the Westland
Wasp and Type 21 Frigate played important roles in the Falklands War of 1982.
The Type 21 shown is HMS Antelope, commissioned in 1975 and present at the Queen's Silver Jubilee fleet review in 1977.
She was sunk during the Falklands War after an unexploded bomb dropped from an Argentine A-4 Skyhawk detonated while being made safe.
Seen in happier times, the ship's company named the resident Westland
Wasp 'Bambi'.
