Panavia Tornado XIII 13 Squadron Aviation Art Print by Artist Paul Couper AGAvA
A
pair of Panavia Tornado GR.4 from 13 (XIII) Squadron are put through their
paces in the mountainous territory of the highlands of Scotland.
Reformed
on Tornados in 1990, the Squadron saw action in Gulf War I in the
reconnaissance role where they proved highly effective. Transferred to RAF
Marham in 1994, the squadron converted onto the improved GR.4 and later GR.4A
variants of the Tornado from 1998.
The
squadron would see further service in Gulf War 2, performing the last sortie by
a Tornado in Operation Telic in 2009. Further service followed over both
Afghanistan and Libya before the squadron was disbanded in 2011.
