McDonnell F3H Demon Limited Edition Aviation Art Print - VF-14, USS Roosevelt by Aviation Artist Darryl Legg

Serving between 1956 and 1964, the subsonic McDonnell F3H Demon was originally intended to have a single Westinghouse J40 engine,  but when this powerplant was found to be insufficient, a Alison J71 was substituted instead. This engine also proved troublesome and went a long way to the Navy deciding on aircraft with two engines from that time forward.

Despite problems that saw a number of accidents, the F3H project was an important step to the McDonnell-Douglas F4 Phantom II, an aircraft that would go on to win eternal fame and still be in service in the early 21st century.

Darryl Legg's aviation art print shows an F-3H of VF-14 and serving aboard the USS Roosevelt.

Darryl Legg's aviation art painting shows an aircraft of VF-83 aboard USS Intrepid in 1956.
