The German High Command put great faith in its Fallschirmjaeger (paratroops) in the early years of WWII with these crack troops earning some spectacular victories. The main transport was the Junkers Ju-52 but the German's put as much faith in gliders with the Gotha 242 being the middle of three designs for the transport of troops and light equipment.
