The long routes of Imperial Airways required an aircraft of considerable size and comfort and, in its day, the H.P 42 surpassed both requirements, becoming one of the most reliable aircraft in the world.

 

In a world of Air Travel so diametrically opposed to the one in which we live now, airliners of Imperial had to give first rate service to a limited number of passengers per flight, which once included flying over the Egyptian pyramids twice to ensure all on board got a good view.
