In one of the finest depictions of this legendary aircraft, Malcolm Root depicts two F.6 of 23 Squadron.
23 Squadron received its first Lightnings in August 1964 and was based at Leuchars for their entire time with the aircraft. The squadron would operate both F.3 and F.6 variants until October 1975 when the it converted to the Phantom FGR.2.
