Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress 'Sally B' (G-BEDF) is the only airworthy B-17 in Europe. Arriving in the UK in 1975, she is based at IWM Duxford and regularly flies at air shows, memorial flypasts and commemorative events.
While at the Guild of Aviation Artists Annual Exhibition at Duxford in June 2023, the artist was reminded of what a spectacular and important sight (and sound) this aircraft is. Rather than recreate a historical WWII scene, he decided to portray her as she is at the present moment (2023), just 'flying'.
This is the original oil on canvas painting from which our prints are taken. The picture comes varnished, framed and ready to hang.
The framed picture measures 27.5" x 19.5" (70cm x 50cm).
