Aviation Art Print Set Featuring the three V Bombers, Avro Vulcan, Handley Page Victor, Vickers Valiant

Britain’s nuclear deterrent for much of the 1950s and 1960s, the ‘V’ bombers have gone on to hold a very special place in the annals of the RAF.

The Vickers Valiant was first in to service and was also the first to be prepared for action during the Suez Crisis of 1956. Exceedingly modern looking, the aircraft was to have a relatively short  service life due to severe metal fatigue problems.

In comparison with the Valiant, Handley Pages Victor was to see the longest service and go on to have an important role in the 1991 Gulf War as a tanker. Before that though, the Victor, along with the Vulcan became Britain’s main strike force during the 1960s.

Last in a long line of supreme bombers, the Vulcan is without doubt the best known of the ‘V’ bombers, though it was not quite as adaptable as the Victor. It’s use in the Black Buck mission over the Falklands in 1982 was a fitting end to a very successful career.

Rober Calow’s Aviation Art painting set contains all three pictures. Each image measures 11” (280mm) with a 1.25” (32mm) border
