We Fly For The Guns - Abbot SPG and Gazelle Original Painting
Royal Artillery Abbot SPG and Gazelle Helicopter Original Oil Painting by Lee Lacey AGAvA
The Abbot Self-Propelled Gun (SPG) formed the backbone of the Royal Artillery for 30 years, being a commonplace sight in both the UK and Germany.
Assisting the Royal Artillery units of both Home Forces and British Forces Germany, the Army Air Corps 663 Squadron has 'We Fly For The Guns' as its motto and operated the Westland Lynx and Gazelle through most of the 1980s until 1993 when the unit was repatriated to RAF Wattisham.
This is the original oil on canvas board painting from which our cards and prints are taken.
The painting comes varnished and framed ready to hang and measures 20" x 16" (508mm x 406mm), with a framed size of 24" x 20" (600mm x 500mm).
