Bill Perring - The Veterans - Supermarine Spitfire
Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I & Farming Horses Aircraft Aviation Birthday Card
It can be said, with some justification, that during the dark days of 1940 it was the Royal Air Force and the farmers of Britain that kept this country both safe and fed. With backs against the wall, a lack of Allies and the Kriegsmarine taking a heavy toll of the ships bringing extra food from abroad every Spitfire, Farmer and Horse were called upon to do their duty.
Bill Perring's Battle of Britain Greetings card shows a Spitfire of 54 Squadron, based at Hornchurch, Essex for much of the summer of 1940.
