Malcolm Root FGRA Railway Art Print featuring Gresley P2 Class locomotive 2002 Earl Marischal
Gresley's Giants - The LNER P2 Class
LNER Gresley P2 class 2002 'Earl Marischal' is seen during 1935. The class had been designed for the express passenger traffic on the Edinburgh to Aberdeen mainline, which is noted for its steep gradients and tight curves. Two locomotives were initially built, differing in their valve gear. Four other engines would be built and all would enter WWII with the later A4 streamlined front end.
These magnificent machines would be rebuilt again during WWII, this time to a pacific design by Edward Thompson. For many years enthusiasts lamented the loss of such a giant as none survived into preservation, but the new build P2 2007 'Prince of Wales' continues apace and will appear with the distinctive front end of the first two locomotives
This card would be ideal for anyone with a love of steam and for people interested in the LNER especially
