Home to the LNER pacifics for four decades, Kings Cross had originally been built in 1852 and served by trains of the Great Northern Railway. From 1923 it became the headquarters of the LNER before passing to British Railways' Eastern Region upon grouping in 1948.

The locomotive needs no introduction and remains one of the most iconic steam locomotives in the world.
