Railway Train & Ocean Liner Birthday Card - RMS Queen Mary & Bulleid Light Pacific
Up to the 1960s the Southern Railway and British Railways (Southern Region) maintained a regular schedule of named “Boat Trains” which took passengers to and from Southampton Dockside to Waterloo. Such was the nature of the business that a new terminal was built in the 1950s to accommodate this traffic. Many of the great liners of the era, including the Cunard “Queens”, Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth were regular visitors to the quayside.
Malcolm Root’s Greetings Card /Birthday Card takes us back to the late 1950s with an un-rebuilt Bulleid pacific leaving the terminal with the magnificent RMS Queen Mary in the background.
