Bedford OB Blank Birthday Card by Malcolm Root FGRA

Introduced in 1939, the OB was to be seen on Britain's roads in good numbers for over thirty years. As near to timeless as the Douglas DC-3 or Routemaster bus, OB buses were used by both national and private companies up and down the country.

While production was suspended during WWII after only 73 had been put on to the road, it resumed in 1946 and over 12,000 had been built by 1951 when the assembly lines finally stopped. This made it one of the first really successful buses in Britain combining comfort and a relatively high service speed for its day of 40mph.

A highly prized vehicle in preservation, over 180 are still existence and a number still running services to and from preserved railway lines.
