Railway Art Locomotive Birthday and Greetings Card featuring a British Railway B17 4-6-0  by the Railway Artist Malcolm Root

Sir Nigel Gresley designed a number of other exceedingly good locomotives both before and after the A4 and A1 Pacifics for which he is best known. In the 1930s, the 4-6-0 was the predominant wheel arrangement for express passenger locomotives and Gresley designed his B17 class of engine to run on lines that could not cater for his larger 4-6-2 locomotives. These engines were to prove superbly reliable and fast on routes such as those from London Liverpool Street to Yarmouth and Norfolk.

The B17 class were built in three batches and were named after stately homes or football clubs, becoming known to enthusiasts as “Sandringhams” or “Footballers”.

Malcolm Root’s Railway Art Painting Birthday and Greeting card shows engine 61664 Liverpool. This card would be ideal for someone with a love of railways and football.
