Railway Art Locomotive Birthday and Greetings Card featuring a London, Brighton & South Coast Railway Marsh Atlantic by the Railway Artist Malcolm Root
Many of the locomotives from the earlier part of the 20th Century are absolutely stunning and are well represented by this Marsh Atlantic. Built for the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway from 1911, the Marsh Atantics came in two guises, the earlier H1 designed by Marsh himself and the H2, which was built to similar dimensions and looks, by his understudy Billinton. The Atlantic wheel arrangement of 4-4-2 would go out of fashion not long after with the introduction of more powerful 4-6-0 and 4-6-2 wheel arrangement locomotives. These engines carried on until the early part of the 1950s and are still a much loved locomotive with plans to build a replica gathering pace.
This railway birthday and greeting card would appeal to anyone with a love of the Southern Railway, LBSC or railway art in general
