For eight decades the scene in some villages of Essex hardly changed. The cars got more modern but the cricket matches were still played, the horse remained the farmers best friend and the Great Eastern Railways 2-4-0, later known as the E4 remained the standard locomotive for local passenger and freight work. The loco is seen here with an early 1930s MG, and the loco is seen in pre-war condition, dating the picture to between 1934-39.
