Southend has been popular with London day-tourists from the end of the 19th
century when both the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway and the Great
Eastern Railway linked the two destinations.
Local business and
transport links were improved accordingly and this scene dates from around 1930
with an Austin 7 and motorcycle also being seen in the picture
