Hawker Hunter RAF Jet Fighter Birthday Day Card by Aviation Artist Stephen Brown.
The Hawker Hunter is
idolised by a great number of aircraft enthusiasts and rightly so. The main
fighter of the RAF day fighter squadrons from 1954 until 1960, the aircraft
then became an effective ground-attack platform. The FGA.9 would then serve
until 1971 with the training aircraft going on to serve until the early 1990s. As of 2019 a small number have re-entered service with the RAF as armament and radar calibration aircraft
Stephen Brown’s painting
shows one of the favourite rite of passage for young pilots, swinging low into
one of the many lakes and lochs of northern England and Scotland.
