When Frank Hornby produced his first train sets for the middle-classes in the 1920s, little did he know that he would be producing model railways for the rest of his life and beyond.
The system show is Hornby Dublo, smaller than the original railway systems of Trix, Bing and Hornby and very popular during the 1950s and 1960s. The system faced a great challenge from the cheaper Tri-ang system and the two companies amalgamated in the late 1960s.
