Goathland, on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, has become famous inrecent times for its part in the TV series 'Heartbeat'.
As well as the station, LNER D49 class locomotive was also named"The Goathland", after the hunt that used to take place. In the TVseries, a replica nameplate from the locomotive can sometimes be seen.
In John Austin's painting, the long locomotive is seen at the stationin a most wonderful wintery scene.
