The Avro Shackleton would eventually become the last Piston-engine aircraft serving in the RAF. As the MR.1, MR.2 and MR.3 served in the Maritime Reconnaissance role until superseded by the Nimrod. Small numbers of the aircraft would then be converted into stop-gap Airborne Early warning aircraft and serve until 1991. The aircraft here is from 228 Squadron.
