Darryl Legg is quickly becoming one of the world's most recognised aviation artists with his artworks appearing in galleries worldwide. His mastery of acrylic paint, adept use of colour and his commitment to accuracy have seen him become one of our most successful and sought after artists.
He was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1975 and after having matriculated in 1993, went to the Technical College in Port Elizabeth, where he completed his art course.
On completing his training, he became a full time professional artist at the age of just twenty, specialising in acrylics. Like many of our artists, Darryl's initial work varied greatly in subject but over a period of time he has come to specialise in aviation. Darryl joined Hansen Fine Art in 2013 and it has been a pleasure for us to have been part of his story.
A lifelong lover of modelmaking, Darryl is a great admirer of Roy Cross and Roy Huxley, the artists behind much of the box art for Airfix and Matchbox. It is something of a dream come true therefore that he should now be completing the artwork for the models of Kotare Models from New Zealand.
Darryl is now living in the Karoo town of Middelburg, South Africa and is available to commission, please see our commission page.
