de Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI Aviation Art Print by Darryl Legg
Winged Versatility - The de Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI
The de Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI was the most widely produced and versatile fighter-bomber variant of this remarkable twin-engined aircraft. Powered by two Merlin 23 or 25 engines, the aircraft combined speed, agility and payload capacity unmatched by any of its contemporaries on either side. Entering service in 1943, the FB Mk.VI operated with great success in low-level strikes, intruder missions and precision attacks across occupied Europe. Capable of carrying bombs and rockets in addition to its formidable armament of four .303 machine guns and four 20mm cannons, it was loved by its crews for its performance and survivability, earning the Mosquito its enduring nickname of “the Wooden Wonder.”
For us at Hansen Fine Art this depiction of this immortal aircraft is the finest we have ever seen.
The aircraft comes from 23 Squadron while they were based on the island fortress of Malta.
