Glynn Williams

Glynn was born in Tunbridge Wells on September 10th 1955 of a Welsh father from Pwllheli and an English Mother from Tunbridge Wells. His Grandfather was one of the last people to make Tunbridge Ware… perhaps some of Glynn’s artistic talent has been inherited from him.

Most of Glynn’s boyhood was spent in the Tonbridge area where he attended the Hugh Christie School, achieving A levels in Art and Art history, among other things, but he is entirely self taught as an artist..

Leaving school at 19, he continued to paint in his spare time but by 1980 the demand for his work was such that he decided to devote all his time to painting. Over forty years later and his paintings now reside in collections around the world..

He believes that a painting should be enjoyed and admired, not puzzled over, and is strongly against what he calls “the trendy element” in modern painting. He is firmly of the opinion that four years in the Army Cadet Force as a boy helped to prevent an over sentimental view of life and painting!

He has written features for an aviation magazine and while known for his landscapes and country scenes is always delighted to paint transport subjects if the opportunity arises.

Glynn is available for commissions.
